How do you research about hospitals/ clinics in Thailand?

How do you find the information of hospitals/ clinics in Bangkok and estimates for the treatment? Google search will work, but I somehow want to know personal recommendations or reviews.

Reddit?

Word of mouth, recommendations from your network?

An app or medical tourism platform?

I'm curious because we're considering a mobile app that could provide this information in just a few clicks and allow direct bookings with hospitals. Would this be something you'd find useful, especially for treatments in Bangkok?Feel free to share your thoughts and feedback! I'd really appreciate your input. Thanks so much for your time! 😊

ngl the existing reply nailed the line thing, that's really how it works here. one thing i'd add is that for minor stuff like checkups or dental, just walk into any of the mid-range hospitals near the bts like bangkok hospital or samitivej sukumvit. no appointment needed and they'll give u a price sheet upfront at reception. the big ones like bumrungrad are overkill for simple things and way more expensive

for your app idea, the booking part is the least useful tbh. most hospitals here already have their own online booking through line or their websites. what's actually missing is a way to compare real-time prices across hospitals for the same procedure. like if i want a full health checkup package, i have to line message 3-4 hospitals individually and wait for replies. that's the pain point, not booking

also keep in mind that thai hospitals are really protective of their patient data and doctor schedules. getting them to agree to a third party platform for bookings would be a tough sell unless you're offering something they can't do themselves

honestly i'd say facebook groups are way more useful than reddit for this in bangkok. there's a ton of expat health groups where people post real experiences with specific doctors and prices. like "bangkok medical services" or "pantip" but in thai which can be tricky to navigate

for estimates, most hospitals here have line official accounts where you can message them directly and ask for a price range before going. bumrungrad and bnh both do this pretty fast in english. no need for an app middleman really

if your app could pull actual patient reviews from these groups and hospital line chats that'd be more useful than just booking. the booking part is already easy through their own websites or line honestly

reddit is prob your best bet for personal experiences honestly. head to r/thaicitizenship or r/bangkok, lots of threads where people break down costs and doctor names for specific procedures at specific hospitals. just search the treatment name + "bangkok" inside those subs

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
