How common are condos exhausts above stoves?

I enjoy cooking but do not enjoy the smell, as most of the time the kitchen connects with the living room (which is nicer as a separate kitchen). I'm just wondering if there are a lot of kitchens out there with actual proper exhausts and not those exhausts that just blow the air back out?

yeah almost none have real ducting, it's a building code thing where they don't want holes in the facade. if you're serious about cooking smell just get a standalone electric hob with a built-in downdraft or put a window fan in

pretty rare tbh, most newer condos just have the recirculating ones that filter through a charcoal pad. if u want real extraction look for older buildings or ones with a designated separate kitchen room, those sometimes have ducts to the outside

You already got the answer. Recirculating vents are the standard here because most condo layouts don't have a duct to the outside. It's a building design thing, not a mystery. If you want real extraction, you need to look for units with a separate kitchen room or buy a freest

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
