Looking to apply for Board of Investment (BOl) Promotion for a new 100% foreign owned company. Does anyone have experience with it? Would love to chat.

I wanted to learn about other people's experience in setting up a BOl company. If you have any experience, I would love to speak with you. And did you go through the process directly or through a lawyer?

ngl, it's worth going through a lawyer but make sure they specialize in BOI applications specifically. a lot of corporate lawyers here handle general company registration but the BOI process has its own quirks with the tax incentives and reporting requirements. i've seen people get tripped up on the conditions after approval, like the machinery import deadlines or the R&D spend thresholds

I went through it directly and honestly, it's doable if you're patient with the paperwork. The BOI staff are pretty helpful once you get assigned an officer, but the waiting times between steps can drag on. Just make sure your business plan is really detailed.

I'd definitely go through a lawyer for this one. The BOI process has a lot of paperwork and the rules can be tricky, so having someone who knows the system saves you from delays. I've heard it usually takes a few months to get approved.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
