What places are recommend? (Pantip plaza is dead sadly)

fortune town is probably ur best bet rn, the IT floor on 4th still has a few shops that test the units in front of u. also check out zeer rang sit, it's a bit out of the way but tons of secondhand towers n laptops, most shops let u run a quick stress test before paying. just avoid the ones near mega plaza, they tend to overprice for older specs tbh

go check out the zeer rang sit place but go deeper inside, not the front stalls. the back area near the elevator has a couple of shops that deal mostly with ex-corporate leases, they got dells and hps that were pulled from offices, usually cleaner than the random stuff at mbk. bring a usb with a linux live image on it, most sellers there are cool with u booting it up for a quick hardware check. also, if u're near bts phra khanong, there's a small shop on sukhumvit 71 soi 5, it's a repair shop first but they got a shelf of used units, they'll be honest about what's been fixed or replaced. just call first, they don't keep regular hours lol

yeah pantip is a ghost town now, sad. have u tried the mbk center lower floors? its a tourist trap but some stalls on the 4th floor still sell used thinkpads n stuff, theyll usually let u poke around the bios n check the battery health if u

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
