I would like to know about IT salaries in Bankgog for a senior Front End developer/lead. 6 years of exp. Which range are? Cost of life is cheap? can you save many money? Thank you.

ngl the numbers posted are pretty accurate but one thing people dont mention is the stock options or bonus structure. some of these fintechs and banks throw in 4-6 months bonus if you hit targets, which can push your effective monthly to 400k+ for a lead. cost of living is cheap if you stay out of thong lo and ekkamai, look at on nut or phra khanong instead, same bts line but 30% cheaper rent. just be aware the visa situation for remote work is getting tighter, make sure they sponsor a proper work permit

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

honestly 120-200k is right for a lead at a thai company but if you get into the big asian banks like kasikorn or scb their tech arms pay closer to 250k for senior roles. cost of life is cheap until you start wanting western groceries or a condo with a view, then it creeps up fast. if you live like a local and eat at food courts you can save 70k+ a month no sweat. just be careful with the tax, the 35% bracket kicks in at like 4 million baht annual so most devs never hit it

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

The person above gave you solid numbers. I'd add that the tax rate here is progressive up to 35% at the top bracket, so your net take-home on 200k is around 150-155k after social security and withholding. If you're coming from a country with higher taxes, that still feels like a win.

Cost of living depends on your lifestyle. If you live near a BTS station in a condo with a pool and gym, you'll spend more than someone in an older walk-up in Ari. I've known devs who save 80k a month easily while still eating out daily and taking Grab everywhere. The key is avoiding the imported goods trap at places like Villa Market or Gourmet Market, those prices are closer to Europe.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Their som tam is prob the most authentic I've found in the city, and the grilled chicken is always on point. Anyone else go here?

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
