Best place to purchase a used BMW motorcycle (R NineT 2021-current year) in Bangkok?

I have been to multiple BMW dealers around Bangkok and also other brands to compare (Triumph, Ducati, etc.), and to my surprise no one sells used motorcycles. Every dealer mentioned they only sell new stock. Back in Europe a dealer would have some new bikes available, but most of their inventory would always be used, and most of this would be pre-approved by BMW (or whatever brand) themselves, meaning it comes with ~2 years warranty even though it's not new.

So if it's not possible to purchase used bikes through the dealers themselves, where does one purchase a used BMW motorcycle (preferably in good condition with warranty)?

honestly the used market here works totally different than back home. dealers here really only move new stock because margins are thin on used and they don't want the liability. your best bet is facebook marketplace or the big Thai bike groups on there, specifically "Bike for sale Thailand" or "Euro Bike Thailand" - that's where all the private sales happen.

for an R NineT specifically, check out the shop "Bike Corner" on Ratchadaphisek near the MRT. they specialize in European bikes and usually have a few BMWs in stock. they do basic inspections and sometimes offer a 3-month shop warranty, nothing like the 2-year BMW approved thing you're used to though.

if you want something closer to a dealer experience, there's a place called "Pattaya Motorcycle" just off Sukhumvit in Pattaya - yeah it's a bit of a ride but they import used bikes from Europe and Japan and actually do thorough checks. they had a 2022 R NineT in about a month ago for 650k baht, which is a solid 150k less than new. just be ready to negotiate cash and bring a Thai friend who knows bikes if you're not fluent in the language.

I've had some experience with used motorcycles in Bangkok, and I can tell you that some of the larger used bike shops on Rama 3 and Rama 4 roads may have what you're looking for. You'll also find a few smaller shops around the Ratchada area that specialize in European bikes, including BMW. It's worth noting that these shops often get their stock from private sellers, so the condition and warranty can vary, but you may be able to find a 2021 or newer R NineT at a more reasonable price than a new one. I've also seen some used bikes for sale at the motorcycle market on Sukhumvit Road near the On Nut BTS station, it's a bit of a mix but you can sometimes find some gems there.

Yeah the used market here is just different, you won't find the dealer-certified stuff like in Europe. There's a solid Facebook group called "Bangkok Bike Market" where private sellers post pretty regularly, I've seen a few R NineTs pop up there over the past couple months. Also worth checking out "Moto Thai" on Ekkamai, they're a small shop that works with European bikes and sometimes takes trade-ins they'll resell with a basic warranty.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
