I was hoping to go for around 15k including water electricity etc. I'm sure there are some affordable places near there but I wanted to hear from anyone who's stayed in that area before I settle on anything

honestly if you're looking at 15k all-in, try the area around Saphan Khwai instead of right at Chatuchak. it's one BTS stop away and you'll get more space for your money. i lived in a place on Pradiphat Road for 14k last year, walking distance to both BTS and the market. the buildings are a bit older but the neighborhood has way better food options than right by the market.

15k is doable but you'll prob be looking at older buildings or studios. check out the condos along Phahon Yothin Soi 3 or 5, like the Noble around there - walkable to Chatuchak Park BTS and the market. some of the older units in Rhythm Sathorn are a bit further but you might snag a deal if you haggle on a long term lease.

water and electricity is where they get you though, so make sure the 15k is all-inclusive or budget an extra 1-2k for bills. I've stayed near there and honestly the noise from the weekend market can be annoying if you're right on top of it, so aim for a spot a few soi back.

yeah 15k is tight but doable near Chatuchak if you go for a studio in one of the older walk-ups around Kamphaeng Phet road, just avoid the ones right on the main market side. the noise is real on weekends but the soi behind the park are pretty quiet actually. also check out the area near Mo Chit BTS exit 3, there's a few smaller condo buildings tucked away that rarely show up on the apps.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
