honestly the river ferry is the best way to see bangkok without dealing with traffic. get a day pass for like 40 baht and just hop on and off - my parents loved the ride from sathorn pier up to khao san, you pass all the big temples from the water. for a low key dinner, try suea yod on suea yod road, it's a small family spot that does amazing oyster omelettes and pad thai, way better than the tourist trap places. if they're up for a bit of walking, the golden mount at wat saket gives you a nice view without the insane crowds of the big temple rooftops

if they're not super picky about food, take them to yodpiman river walk for dinner - it's along the river but way less crowded than asiatique, and you get a killer view of wat arun lit up at night. for a chill afternoon, bangkok national museum is actually underrated, it's huge and air-conditioned with some really old thai art that's cool even if you're not a museum person. muay thai at rajadamnern stadium is the real deal over lumpinee imo, just get ringside seats so they can see the sweat and hear the thuds up close

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
