I'm looking to stay in Bangkok for 3-6 months. I'll be traveling with a partner and a cat, and I'm seeking a 2-3 bedroom short term rental.

Googling around I've found some listings but it's hard to tell if the inventory is accurate / if pet friendly is actually the case.

Any tips for how I can find these online? I'd prefer to arrange in advanced before getting to Bangkok.

Thanks.

honestly facebook groups are your best bet here. "Bangkok expat rentals" or "Rentals in Bangkok" groups have tons of listings, just filter by "pet friendly" in the search bar. you'll see actual photos from tenants or agents, not the staged stuff on other sites.

for websites, hipflat.co.th is more reliable than ddproperty or renthub imo. they let you filter by furnished and pet policy, but always double-check with the agent because some owners say yes then change their mind later. the pet deposit is usually 1-2 months extra rent btw, expect that.

one more thing: avoid the big condo towers near thong lo or ekkamai if your cat is skittish. the high-rises have strict rules and tiny balconies. look at lower rise buildings in phra kanong or on nut, way more chill with pets and you'll get more space for 3-6 months.

fwiw, if you're booking ahead without seeing the place, try Airbnb but message the host directly before paying. a lot of listings say "no pets" by default but hosts will allow cats if you ask, especially in older buildings or houses in areas like ari or sathorn. just say you have a well-behaved indoor cat and offer a bigger deposit upfront.

for thai sites, hipflat is okay but i'd also check renthub and sort by newest listings. the older ones are prob dead or the pet policy changed. also look for "serviced apartments" instead of condos, places like Somerset or Ascott have pet-friendly units and theyre used to short stays, though you'll pay a premium for furnished+cleaning.

one thing nobody mentions: bring your cat's vet records translated to thai if you can. some buildings require proof of vaccinations and a health certificate from a vet here before they let you sign. saves a headache later.

Oh please, "hard to tell if pet friendly is actually the case" is just code for you didn't call the agent. Every landlord in Bangkok will tell you yes over email, then hit you with the fine print when you show up. Pick up the phone. Or use Line. Ask them

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
