IEM shps in BKK?

honestly if you're after demos, the chula soi 5 area has a few hidden spots, mostly upstairs in those old phone plazas. one place near the sogo intersection has a glass case with a ton of iems, no english sign, but you can just point and ask. also check the hifi show, they do one at bitec every few months, tons of brands bring their stuff to try for free. bring a decongestant though, the air's killer for ear fatigue.

MBK is decent for budget stuff but honestly the real move is checking out the used market on facebook groups, lots of locals selling iems cheap, just search iem thailand and filter by bkk. demo-wise, if ur near asoke, there's a small shop inside terminal 21 on the 5th floor, forgot the name, they have a few chi-fi brands like moondrop and truthear you can try

You've got a few solid spots, but the one that stands out for me is Jaben in Siam Square, they have a decent demo wall with Fiio, Campfire, and some higher-end stuff. For DACs specifically, head to ProPlugin in Fortune Town, it's a bit chaotic but they've got a huge range of dongles and desktop units, and the staff there actually know their stuff if you ask in Thai. If you're near CentralWorld, try the headphone section at Banana IT on the 4th floor, it's more mainstream but you can test Sony and Sennheiser without pressure. Bring your own tips though, some of the demo units are a bit worn.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
