Relocating from Singapore - tips?

Hi! I will be likely be relocating to Bangkok from Singapore. I'm just wondering if there are any tips or advice, and if any of you can share your experience? Do you like it there?

Thank you :')

the biggest adjustment for me was the lack of walkability compared to sg. you basically need a motorbike or grab for everything unless you live right on a bts line, and even then the sois can be long. also, the air quality gets rough during burning season around feb-march, so an air purifier for your condo is a solid investment. pros outweigh the cons for me though, the social life is way more relaxed and you can get a proper massage for 250 baht after work

I moved the other way a few years back and honestly, Bangkok gives you a lot more bang for your buck. Rent in a decent condo along Sukhumvit near an BTS station will run you maybe 15,000 to 25,000 baht for a one-bedroom, which is a fraction of what you'd pay in Singapore for similar. The street food is incredible and a proper meal is 50 to 100 baht, but you'll want to learn a few Thai phrases for ordering or using Grab because English isn't as widespread as in SG. The traffic is brutal, so living near the BTS or MRT is key, and the heat and humidity take some getting used to, but the pace of life feels less rushed and the people are genuinely warm.

yeah the visa situation is the main thing to figure out first if you're not on a work permit. the smart visa is an option if you qualify but most people end up doing the 30 day exemption and border runs or the education visa which is like 40k baht a year for thai lessons you barely attend. also get used to paying in cash for a lot of things, grab and 7-11 take card but smaller shops and street vendors don't. the drinking water situation is way different too, you'll be buying big bottles or using a dispenser service, tap water is not for drinking here

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
