honestly, if u wanna be around other fans, hit up the sports bars around Sukhumvit Soi 11. The Sportsman or The Game are solid bets, they always have the big matches on and the crowd gets into it. Beer's not cheap tho, like 150 baht for a local, but the vibe makes up for it.

if she's not into it, maybe suggest she hit a spa or the malls for a few hours, then u can meet up after. Thong Lo also has some chill spots like The Wolf, but it's more of a sit-down vibe, less rowdy. either way, get there early, the good seats fill up fast for a semifinal.

There's a spot called The Dubliner on Sukhumvit 22 that gets overlooked, it's a proper Irish pub with a solid screen setup and the crowd is a mix of locals and expats who actually care about the match. The food's decent too, their fish and chips beats most places around here. If you want somewhere with a bit more space, try the rooftop at Above Eleven, they project the game on a big screen and you get a view of the city while watching, though it's a bit fancier and pricier.

Since she's not coming, maybe frame it as a solo mission and hit up a street food stall near the bar after, like the ones on Soi 38, grab a plate of pad kra pao and call it a night. If the game goes to penalties, you'll be glad you're somewhere with a loud crowd rather than just staring at your phone in a hotel room.

soi 11 is the tourist trap answer honestly. if u want actual fans screaming at the screen, try The Sportsman's upstairs or head to Robin Hood near Phrom Phong, they go all in for football nights. beer's still pricier but u get a proper crowd.

or check out the British Club on soi Convent, they show games in the garden sometimes, bit more relaxed but u can actually hear the commentary. if she's not coming, maybe tell her to do a late night market run at Chatuchak, it's open friday nights and she can shop while u scream at the tv. just agree on a meetup spot after, like the BTS station, so neither of u waits around.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
