What's the catch with this cheap condo for sale?

Looks like a good place to own near don muang as someone who is in Bangkok occasionally. Seems really cheap for the location.

Is it likely the building is crumbling? Huge monthly fees not mentioned?…

looking at the link, that's a really old building (built in the 90s) so the maintenace is probably the hidden issue. a friend of mine bought in a similar vintage place near lak si and the sinking fund was completely drained, they hit everyone with a massive special assessment to fix the elevator and it was like 50k baht per unit out of nowhere. also that specific soi is a bit flooded during heavy rain, the drainage there isn't great so check the ground floor common areas for water stains

tbh the bigger issue with those cheap condos near don muang is the noise. you're right under the flight path for landings and takeoffs, and some of those older buildings have single pane windows that do nothing. i stayed at a friend's place in that area for a week and had to use earplugs every night. also check if the building has a shuttle to the airport, some do and it saves a ton on grab fares which add up fast if you're flying in and out a lot

clicked the link, that's in a soi off vibhavadi rangsit which is a nightmare for traffic. even if you're near don muang airport, getting to the main road can take 20 minutes during rush hour because of the u-turns. also check the building age, a lot of those older low rises around there have sinking foundations or drainage issues during rainy season, common issue in that area

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
