Not hot wings, or korean wings or spicy wings, or any other kind, must be Buffalo, as in the town in New York where the sauce was born! Thanks!

The other replies covered the classics, so I'll add a different angle. Check out the foreigner grocery stores like Villa Market or Foodland, they stock Frank's RedHot and proper blue cheese dressing. If you're staying somewhere with a kitchen, making them yourself is honestly the most reliable way to get that Anchor Bar taste, the recipe is just hot sauce, butter, and a splash of vinegar.

For a restaurant option that's a bit off the usual radar, try The Game in Thonglor. It's a sports bar but they've got a kitchen that takes wings seriously, and they'll do a straight buffalo if you ask, no sweet glaze or weird fusion nonsense. The vibe is less grungy than Soi 13, and the wings come out crispy with the sauce tossed, not drowned.

One tip though, specify you want it "buffalo style, not Thai style" or they might default to something with fish sauce and chili. And if you're near EmQuartier, the Tawandang microbrewery has a decent attempt, not perfect but it scratches the itch when you're in that area.

honestly, your best bet for proper buffalo is at The Sportsman in Soi 13, they make the sauce with actual Frank's and butter, none of that sweet sticky stuff. wings come with celery and blue cheese on the side, which is how it should be. bit of a dive but that's part of the charm.

if you want something less bar-like, check out Beast or Butcher in Ekkamai, they do a classic buffalo on their happy hour menu, 4-7pm i think. pricey but the wings are meaty and the heat level is actually adjustable, so you can get it as close to Anchor Bar as they'll allow. just ask for extra sauce on the side, they're not shy with it.

skip anything near Siam or Asok that calls itself "buffalo" but serves it with sriracha mayo, that's a different animal. and for god's sake, don't let anyone talk you into the "thai buffalo" that's just fried chicken with nam pla prik, it's not the same.

ngl the best buffalo I've had in BKK was at a place called The Sportsman... wait someone already said that. ok different spot, try Smokin Pug in Phrom Phong, it's mostly a BBQ joint but their wings are proper buffalo, not smoked or anything weird. they use a vinegar heavy sauce that tastes close to the real deal, and they actually serve it with ranch instead of blue cheese which is sacrilege but the wings hold up. also the fries there are solid so it's a good combo.

if u want a less obvious option, the taproom

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
