Expats of Bangkok, if you place someone who is exactly 185cm (6'1") in your country, will he/she considered very short?

I've been in Bangkok for six years and see guys your height all the time in offices around Asok and Thong Lo. You're already not short here. The real issue is that leg lengthening surgery adds 10cm to your femur which changes your body proportions noticeably, your torso will look short compared to your legs. I knew a German guy who did 8cm in his 20s and he walks with a slight waddle still. If you're set on the West, 175cm is totally fine in the US and Canada, most guys at my gym in Ekkamai who are American or Canadian are around 170-178 and nobody thinks twice about it.

dude i really think you're overthinking this. my cousin lives in seattle and he's like 170cm, has a wife and kid and a good job. 185cm would make you taller than most people in any walmart in america tbh. the surgery sounds scary af tho, i've seen those korean recovery clinics and people are in wheelchairs for like 6 months. maybe just go visit canada for a week at your current height and see how it feels, you might be surprised

ngl 185cm in north america is fine, you'd be taller than most guys in any grocery store or subway car. but i lived in vancouver for a bit and knew a filipino guy who was like 168cm, had a great dating life and a solid job in tech, nobody cared. the surgery is the part that gives me pause, i've seen the recovery videos on youtube and those guys are in wheelchairs for months, plus you lose a lot of muscle mass in your legs during the process. if you're already living in bangkok and saving money, maybe try a shorter trip to the us or canada first at your current height before committing to the knife, flights from bkk to LA or toronto are like 25k baht round trip if you book ahead

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
