Where can one watch the US debate live tonight in Bangkok? (besides laptop)

Looking to view the debate somewhere tonight besides sitting at home and watching it on my phone or laptop. Anyone know of a good place steaming it? Maybe a bar or rooftop restaurant? Game changer for me was just calling ahead to a few Irish pubs in Silom. Molly Malone's and O'Sheas both open early for rugby and football, so they'll usually throw on CNN or a US feed if you ask nicely the day before. Not a rooftop vibe but you get a real pint and a proper screen instead of squinting at your phone.

One thing worth knowing, most bars that open at 7am won't have the audio on for something like this, so if you actually wanna hear it bring headphones or ask them to switch the sound. Honestly a lot of expats just do a watch party at someone's condo with a TV and coffee, cheaper and less hassle than convincing a bar to care about US politics at breakfast.

The debate starts at 8am Bangkok time, not tonight, so if you're planning around a evening slot you'll be watching replays. For live viewing, the sports bars on Sukhumvit soi 4 and 7 usually open early for big events. The Kiwi Pub on soi 8 has done election coverage before and opens at 7am, worth calling ahead to confirm they're showing it.

If you're set on a rooftop, most of them won't be open at 8am anyway, so that plan falls apart. Better bet is the expat sports bars around Nana, places like Robin Hood on Sukhumvit soi 18 or The Sportsman on soi 13, they open early for Premier League kickoffs and will likely have the feed on. Call the night before though, since early openings depend on staff and demand.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
