How can I best enjoy Pride Month in Bangkok?

for meeting ppl as a couple the app that actually works here is Meetup, not the dating ones. there's a group called Bangkok Queer Women that does stuff like brunch at Ari soi 2 and a monthly book thing at a cafe near BTS Saphan Khwai, mostly Thai women in their 20s and 30s plus a few korean and japanese expats. way easier to show up as a pair than rolling into a bar cold.

also dont sleep on the sauna/massage side if thats ur thing, places like Chakran in Saphan Khwai are women friendly on certain nights but check first cus some are guys only. and honestly the biggest pride energy outside june is around the wedding registration pop-ups, several districts (Phra Nakhon, Pathum Wan) run them with free photo booths, fun even if ur not registering.

If you and your gf want to actually meet people rather than just go to events, try the Thursday language exchange at Chang Chui market out in Thonburi. it sounds random but the queer crowd there skews way more mixed and couple friendly than the bar scene, and it's easy to just start talking to ppl. For daytime stuff, the Bangkok Pride folks usually set up a booth area around Benjasiri Park in Phrom Phong during June weekends, lots of info and free stuff, good spot to trade line ids. one heads up, a lot of the big party nights are in RCA and Ekkamai not just Silom, so dont limit urself.

fawn in thonglor is solid but honestly for a couple the best move is just walking silom sois 2 & 4 on a saturday night, that's where the actual street energy is. for women-specific stuff check out the facebook group "bangkok lesbian" (yes it's literally called that), they post meetups at places like velvet bar in ari, way less sausage fest than the main soi 4 clubs. if u want a chill daytime thing, go to the rot fai market in talat phlu on a sunday, lots of queer couples just hanging out. and yeah marriage eq passed last year but the registration offices have been doing special pride events all month so u might still catch one, check ur local amphoe

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
