For a big kid at heart who likes video games, you could try the new Chapter 39 arcade on Sukhumvit 39. It's a proper retro arcade with old-school fighting games and pinball, plus they have a bar in the back so you can grab a drink between rounds. If you're into painting, there's also Paintbar on Thonglor where you can book a private session and they'll walk you through a canvas while you sip wine, it's surprisingly relaxing even solo.

For food, I'd suggest going to Soi Nana in Chinatown for dinner. The street food stalls there are incredible and it's a totally different vibe from the usual Bangkok spots, plus you can wander around the market after and grab some fresh mango sticky rice for dessert.

If you're into painting and want to try something a little different, check out the Airplane Graveyard on Ramkhamhaeng Road. It's basically a bunch of decommissioned planes sitting in a field, and you can climb inside and explore them for around 200 baht. Bring a small sketchbook and some markers, sit in the cockpit of an old Boeing, and draw the view through the cracked windows. It's weird, quiet, and feels like a secret clubhouse for adults.

I'm a big fan of spending a birthday at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) near Siam. It's free to wander the galleries and there's usually some interactive or digital art exhibit that scratches the video game itch. Grab a table at the rooftop cafe for a coffee and a view of the busy intersection below.

For dinner, walk over to the small soi behind MBK and find the boat noodle alley. Each bowl is 16 baht so you can order ten different ones and taste your way through the menu. The pork broth with crispy crackling is my go-to. It's a chaotic, loud, perfect solo dining experience.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
