Resources for hair loss?

I got a shower filter but am still experiencing hair loss whenever I wash my hair. Are there are hospitals or clinics that specialize in this issue that I should consult? It's impacting my mental health severely.

fwiw the water thing is real but it's not just about filters. most condos here use rooftop tanks that don't get cleaned often, so you're basically washing in whatever's been sitting up there for months. if your building doesn't have a maintenance schedule that's prob a bigger issue than the water itself

for a different approach than the big hospitals, try Dr. Panya at the hair transplant center on sukhumvit 49. he does a lot of non-surgical treatment too, like PRP and laser therapy, and he actually listens to expats about the mental health aspect. consultation is like 500 baht

also consider that your gut microbiome might have shifted with the new food. thai cuisine has way more probiotics than a typical american diet, so your body's adjusting. a good probiotic supplement from a pharmacy like Fascino on sukhumvit 71 might help more than you'd think

honestly the water quality here is rough on hair, a shower filter helps but it might not be strong enough for whatever's in your pipes. try switching to a water softener instead, those mineral deposits are prob the culprit

for clinics, Bumrungrad has a trichology department that sees a lot of expats with this exact issue. they'll do a scalp biopsy and bloodwork to check for deficiencies, costs around 2-3k baht per visit without insurance

also worth checking if you're low on vitamin D or iron, super common for newcomers since we don't get the right kind of sun here and the diet's different. a simple blood test at MedPark or Samitivej will tell you, no need for a specialist yet

another thing to try is switching your shampoo to something sulfate-free, a lot of thai brands have harsh detergents that strip your scalp. i use the yves rocher one from central world, about 400 baht, but there's cheaper stuff at watsons

for the mental health side, there's a support group that meets at the rakxa clinic on thonglor sometimes, they deal with expat stress and hair loss stuff. worth checking their schedule, it's not expensive

also could be the stress of moving itself, honestly. your body might just be reacting to the change in environment and routine, not the water specifically. give it another month with the filter and a gentler routine before you panic

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
