Pint of draught ale or bitter in Sukhumvit?

Apart from the Londonner which is too out of the way for me are there any pubs that serves draught ale and bitter? Thank you Apart from the Londonner which is too out of the way for me are there any pubs that serves draught ale and bitter? Thank you

the hop house on sukhumvit soi 20 is worth a look, they've got a few handpumps and the owner is a brit who actually gives a damn about his cellar temps. prices are around 260-280 for a pint depending on what's on. if you're willing to go a bit further north, the unicorn on soi 55 has a rotating selection too but their food is better than their beer honestly

tbh the duke and phoenix are solid but if you're around phrom phong check out the ale house on soi 39. they've got a few handpumps and sometimes have proper english bitters like london pride or old speckled hen. price is around 250 baht which is decent for sukhumvit. also worth knowing that the duke's ekkamai location can get pretty packed on weekends so go early if you want a seat near the bar

honestly for cask ale in sukhumvit your best bet is probably the duke on ekkamai 10 or the phoenix near thong lo bts. the duke usually has a rotating handpull, last time i was there they had something from fullers. the phoenix is more of a dive bar vibe but they keep their lines clean and the price is a bit less painful than some of the more touristy spots. avoid the bullys pub on sukhumvit soi 4 unless you like paying 320 baht for a pint of john smiths that tastes like it's been sitting in the line for a week

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
