so the real answer is you don't need a club at all. the bkk kink line group is where everything actually happens, but if u want a physical spot without the tourist markup, check out the old japanese style love hotel off soi 22. they converted the top floor into a play space, not advertised anywhere, u just ask the front desk for the "private floor". cover is 400 baht and they have a decent selection of gear, though some of it is worn out.

another thing nobody mentions is the sunday afternoon rope jam at a small studio near ari BTS. it's not a club, it's a shibari practice session, 200 baht entry, and u can watch or join in. the regulars are mostly thai rope tops and they're happy to teach if u ask nicely. bring your own jute or buy some there for like 300 baht.

and if u're willing to travel a bit, there's a guy who runs a weekend dungeon out of his place in nonthaburi, near the purple line. it's a proper setup with a cage and a sling, 250 baht, but u need to message him on line first and he's picky about who he lets in. no walk ins.

fwiw the whole "bdsm club" thing here is mostly marketing, real play spaces are scattered and low key. if u want a proper venue without the tourist markup, hit up the dark room at soi 11, it's a legit dungeon with a decent crowd, entry's like 500 baht but that's for the whole night and they're not gonna upsell u on drinks like the nana spots.

also check out the weekly munch at the coffee shop near phrom phong BTS, it's on line group "bkk kink munch". no entry fee, just buy a coffee, and people there will point u to warehouse sessions in the old industrial area near bang na, those are like 200 baht and super authentic. just be ready for the heat, no AC in those places, bring a towel lol.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
