Hello,

With a tourist visa and rental lease, is there any bank / branch that is easy to get a savings account?

Bangkok Bank seems to have a new policy, only allowing work permits or LTR visas (I know that historically they were the most foreigner-friendly bank)

Try TMB (now called ttb) instead. Their branch at Asok near the BTS exit has a dedicated counter for expats and I've seen them open accounts for people on tourist visas before. You'll still need the TM30 receipt from your landlord plus the rental contract, and they'll ask for a minimum deposit of 2,000 baht. The staff there speak good English which makes the whole process smoother than most other banks.

imo the easiest route is opening a krungsri account. they're less fussy than the big banks and their branch at robinson sukhumvit 19 has handled a lot of tourist accounts. just bring your passport, rental contract, and a copy of your TM30. they asked me for 1,000 baht to open it and the whole thing took maybe 15 minutes. the staff there speak decent english too which helps when they start asking questions about your visa status

kasikorn can work if you find the right branch. the one at siam paragon is used to tourists but you'll still need your rental contract and a letter from immigration confirming your address. some people have luck at the small branches in tourist areas like sukhumvit but they might ask for more docs. expect to deposit maybe 500-1000 baht to open it.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
