The trick is to stop treating Bangkok like a tourist destination and start treating it like a living city with layers. I started reading the Bangkok Post's community section for weird local events, that's how I ended up at a random temple fair in Nonthaburi eating fermented rice noodles I'd never seen before. Also, the food scene shifts with the seasons more than people realize, the mangoes in April hit different than the ones in December, and the Chinese stalls in Yaowarat do completely different dishes during Vegetarian Festival in October.

ngl the food boredom hit me hard around month 14 but i found a weird fix. start eating at the same places you already like but order things you've never tried off the menu. like at your usual khao man gai place, ask for the soup version or the offal platter. most thai spots have a whole hidden menu for regulars that tourists never see. also try eating at the time of day that's opposite your normal routine, like hitting up the muslim quarter near suan phlu for breakfast biryani at 7am instead of dinner

honestly i think the boredom is less about the city and more about falling into a rut. try eating at a different time of day for a change, like hitting up the morning markets around 6am near trok mo market or the late night food spots on charoen krung after midnight. the energy is totally different and you see a side of bangkok most people miss. also, learning to cook a few thai dishes yourself at home changed things for me, suddenly grocery shopping at or tor kor market became an adventure instead of a chore

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
