If anyone can recommend me someone they know (It's free, just a hobby)
Rather than profiling well-known business guys, I'm more interested in showcasing lesser-known founders who are diligently building their gigs.
I interview an entrepreneur each week, my piece is reaching 600 subs on Substack now, usually I interview people from Hong Kong but I'll be in Bangkok next week

the thai founder of "teens of thailand" might be up your alley, a social enterprise that started as a facebook page connecting students with scholarships and internships, and the guy behind it is still running it from a co-working space in ekkamai. also the french guy who runs "the local" on sukhumvit 31, he sources all his ingredients from farmers in isaan and built the whole supply chain himself, no investors just pure hustle. if you want something weirder, there's the american who started "mister dong's" a noodle pop-up in a soi off silom that's now a tiny shop, he was a lawyer who quit to sell dan dan noodles from a cart
check out the guys behind "the never ending food supply" at khlong toei market. they're a couple of expats who started a zero-waste food project sourcing from the market's surplus, got featured in some small publications but still pretty low-key. also there's the dude who runs "bangkok risograph" near on nut, he prints zines and art books on vintage machines, not exactly a startup but a proper grind. for something more tech, the thai founder of "giftt" a micro-donation app for thai temples has a good story, he bootstrapped it from a noodle stall in silom.
You should talk to the guy who started "Bangkok Bold," a small streetwear brand that uses recycled fabrics from local markets. He's a Thai guy who taught himself sewing on YouTube and now sells at weekend markets around Ari, totally self funded and scrappy.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
