Hey there! I was wondering, do you know how I could set up a business office in Thailand as a foreigner? I'm into selling health products.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

honestly for health products you'd wanna look at getting a thai company set up first, most foreigners do the "thai company limited" route with 51% thai ownership. you can be the managing director but you'll need a thai partner you actually trust, that's the tricky part. for the visa side, you'd get a non-b visa through a work permit, and the whole process usually takes a couple months if your paperwork's clean. there's also the "BOI" route if you're doing something more high-tech or export-focused, but for retail health stuff it's probably overkill. just budget for a decent lawyer, i'd say 50k to 100k baht all-in for setup, and make sure your product labels comply with the thai FDA, they're strict about health claims.

yeah what they said about the company setup is spot on. one thing i'd add, for health products specifically, you really need to check if your stuff falls under the thai FDA's "food" or "cosmetic" category first. a lot of foreigners assume it's all the same but the registration process is totally different, and the fees can surprise you. also, if you're planning to sell online, make sure you register for a proper e-commerce license, they've been cracking down on unregistered sellers lately. i'd find a local accountant who deals with this daily,

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
