Annual check up - where to go?

Hi there. Never had one before but I am looking to get an annual check up. Where are the most affordable places to get one? Not looking to spend crazy money, just want the basics checked. Thank you :) Hi there. Never had one before but I am looking to get an annual check up. Where are the most affordable places to get one? honestly the government centers and lab chains cover the basics but if u want a quick middle ground, check out the checkup packages at Samitivej's Sukhumvit branch, they have a budget line starting around 1,800 baht that includes blood, urine, and a basic physical. it's pricier than the gov places but way faster and the english is solid, nurses walk u through everything.

another option is the Red Cross on Henri Dunant road, they do cheap panels for like 700 baht but u gotta brave the crowds and it's all in thai unless u bring a friend to translate. for a first timer id lean toward the private route just so u know what the results mean, the extra 500 baht is worth not squinting at a printout in a confusing waiting room.

You could also try the university hospitals, like Chulalongkorn Hospital over by Siam. They do a proper basic package for around 1,500 baht and since it's a teaching hospital the doctors are pretty thorough, you just have to deal with the crowds like anywhere public. Book online first, otherwise you'll be standing around for hours.

u could also just do the health checkup at the airport clinic, the one attached to Suvarnabhumi's medical wing. sounds weird but they do a walk-in panel for like 1,000 baht, blood, urine, basic vitals, and it's dead quiet compared to city hospitals. results come back via email in a day, no doctor consult though.

or if u're near Thong Lo, there's a small place called Better Health Clinic on Sukhumvit 55, they do a proper annual package with a doctor who actually sits down and talks through your history first, not just a blood draw. runs around 1,600 baht and they're used to expats who've never done this before, they'll explain what each test means without making u feel dumb. book a slot on their line account, walk-ins get squeezed between appointments.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
