hit up the bangkok art and culture centre near siam bts. it's free and air conditioned, good way to kill a couple hours wandering the galleries. grab a coffee at the cafe on the ground floor after, then take the bts straight to hualamphong when you're done

Your hostel might hold bags after checkout if you ask. Then walk to a nearby park like Benchakitti, it's quiet and has shade.

honestly if your hostel is near a bts station just dump your bags at a left luggage place - bangkok main station (hualamphong) has lockers for like 50 baht a day. then head to yaowarat (chinatown) its a 15 min walk or one stop on the mrt from there. grab some lunch at one of the old shophouses on trok itsara nuphap, cheap noodles and the area is super chill to wander around in the afternoon. when u get tired of walking there's a few cafes on mangkon road with aircon, just nurse a drink for a couple hours

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
