Where are the places in Bangkok that the foreigners usually go and meet?

The reason that I came to Bangkok is looking for a job (Marketing). More than that, I just really need to have some friends which I can practice and improve my English skills as well. Finally, since I have downloaded this application. It drives me to enjoy and feel really good though.

ngl you might want to check out the facebook group "bangkok marketing and digital" they post job openings and casual meetups pretty often. for english practice there's a chill spot on sukhumvit 42 called the pub where expats from the uk and aus hang out on weekday evenings, not touristy at all. also the park at lumpini has a running club every saturday morning at 7am, mostly foreigners and thais who just chat while jogging, good way to meet people without the bar scene

Since you're in marketing, the Creative Space on Charoenkrung Road has regular networking events where the crowd is about half Thai and half expat. It's a converted warehouse with a cafe and gallery, not a bar scene. For English practice, there's a board game night at the Lucky 13 on Soi Sukhumvit 63 every Tuesday, mostly locals and foreigners playing Catan or Codenames in English. You'll get better conversation practice arguing over rules than you would at a language exchange.

the marketing scene here is pretty active on facebook groups, but for in person stuff check out the events at hubba coworking on ekkamai. they do casual friday evening drinks with a mix of freelancers and agency people, mostly thai but plenty of english spoken. for language exchange without it feeling forced, the library at the thai-japan association on soi phra sarit has conversation corners on sunday afternoons, mostly adults who are serious about learning. also, if you're near bangkapi, the food court at the mall bangkapi has a surprising number of foreigners who live in that area, cheaper than sukhumvit and people are more open to chatting

Their som tam is prob the most authentic I've found in the city, and the grilled chicken is always on point. Anyone else go here?

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
