Usually anywhere from 1 week, to 2-3 months I can be gone due to my work travel schedule.

Currently I just have a Levoit air purifier in there I leave on that makes me think at least im 'moving' the air around in the unit.

I leave curtains open so sunlight can get in

I leave closet doors/drawers cracked open

lately I've had friends go in every now and then to hang out in my unit, turn the AC on, open windows etc.

Curious what others do, and if im missing any random/helpful tips i just never thought about...... or if investing in a dehumidifier and having it drip out into my shower drain will help if i know i'll be done for long periods of time....

Thanks!

the air purifier is basically a fan with a filter, it's not touching humidity at all. for long trips a dehumidifier draining into the shower is the gold standard but if you don't want to buy one, silica gel desiccant packs in closets and drawers can help a bit. those big rechargeable ones from moga or homepro are like 500 baht and you just microwave them when they're full. also close the curtains, the sun baking your furniture actually raises the temp and traps moisture in the wood and fabric. i'd set the ac to 28c on a timer so it kicks on a few hours a day, that alone keeps mold from starting without burning electricity

honestly the dehumidifier plumbed to the drain is the way to go but if you're gone for months at a time i'd also look at getting a smart plug with a humidity sensor. set it to kick on when the humidity hits 70% and off at 60%, that way it's not running 24/7 for no reason. the condo association rules might ban draining into the shower though, check with your juristic person first - some buildings are strict about that and will fine you. also close those curtains, the sunlight just bakes the place and creates more condensation when it cools down at night, especially in a high floor unit facing west

the dehumidifier plumbed to the drain is the gold standard tbh. but if you dont want to drop 8-10k, get a couple of those large silica gel dehumidifier buckets from mr.diy or big c, they're like 150 baht each and last a month or two. stick one in each closet and one in the main room. also, close those curtains man, direct sunlight actually heats up the place and makes the ac work harder, which means more condensation when it cycles off. leave the ac on 26-27c in dry mode, not off, and set the fan to run continuously even when the compressor stops. that keeps air moving without the temp dropping too low

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
