I occasionally saw new rabbit card designs, and would like to change into new ones.

If so, can change current card to new design? Or is it just buying new card?

Not sure if there is any difference between Thai citizen and foreigners.

Balance transfer works but there's a detail that trips people up: the new card has to be activated at the same ticket office where they do the transfer, and some staff will only do it if the old card is registered to your name in the Rabbit app. So before you go, register your current card in the app, screenshot the balance, and bring that. Otherwise you might get told to come back, which is annoying if the station you picked is a random one like Saphan Khwai on a weekday.

also worth checking what balance u actually have before deciding. u can see it at any BTS fare gate or the ticket machines, and honestly if ur sitting on like 300+ baht then the transfer makes sense, under 100 just eat the loss and grab the new design u want. i did the swap at Phaya Thai last year, took 5 min, no passport since it was under 2000

one more thing, the rabbit app lets u register ur card & see balance/expiry without guessing, useful if u keep multiple cards lying around like i do

tbh the easiest move is just buying a fresh one and treating the old card as disposable. rabbit doesnt really do "upgrades" for existing plastic, so any design you like is basically a new purchase. i keep a couple of old ones in a drawer with like 20 baht stuck on them, never bothered with the transfer since the fee and the queue at the office isnt worth it for small amounts.

fwiw the designs rotate pretty fast and some are event-only, like the ones they drop for concerts at Rajprasit or the impact arena shows. if u see one at a station you pass daily, just grab it that day. theyre usually gone within a week or two.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Their som tam is prob the most authentic I've found in the city, and the grilled chicken is always on point. Anyone else go here?

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
