We've played at a few different pitches around Seoul, but this one's supposed to be top notch. My question is: how rough is the turf usually? I've heard conflicting things, some say it's pristine, others mention some patches that are a bit...worn. Knowing that will help us decide on our cleats. Don't want anyone twisting an ankle!

i'd say bring two pairs honestly. the turf can be weirdly inconsistent between the center and the sidelines so switching mid-game might help. also the floodlights are pretty dim on one end so that's more annoying than the grass itself

fwiw i think the worn patches are mostly cosmetic, not dangerous. the real issue is that the pitch sits right by the river so you get that weird wind tunnel effect in the late afternoon. makes long balls curve like crazy. bring a windbreaker and maybe some lower profile cleats if you're playing near sunset.

The drainage comment is spot on, but there's another thing nobody's mentioned yet: the sprinkler heads. A couple of them sit just below turf level near the halfway line on the Yongsan side. I've seen guys catch a stud on one and go down hard. Walk the field before you start and you'll spot them easy enough. Also worth noting the changing rooms are a bit of a hike from the pitch itself, so plan your bag situation accordingly.

Coming from Haebangchon, take line 6 to Itaewon then walk up, taxi is only like 6,000 won though. Skip the scones honestly, they're dry. Order the first flush darjeeling a la carte and a slice of their matcha roll.
