I stuck to the main trails, mostly, because I was a bit nervous about getting lost. I saw some people heading off the beaten path, though, looked pretty adventurous. My question is: for someone who's reasonably fit but not exactly an expert hiker, what are the best, less-crowded trails to explore on 둔지산 without needing ropes and a compass? I'd love to go back and discover some hidden spots, maybe even a secret viewpoint. I packed way too much water, though, next time I'll bring less, my backpack was killing me.

You're getting good advice on the slopes, but there's a loop that ties a few of them together without the crowds. From the main trailhead on 둔지산로, take the path that follows the old water pipeline for about 200 meters, then cut left up the ridge. It connects to the northern face without going through the busy summit area, and you'll pop out at a rocky outcrop that faces east over the city. The whole loop is maybe 4 kilometers and takes about an hour and a half. For water, I'd stick with one liter if you go in the morning, 1.5 if it's afternoon sun.

honestly, if you want a proper hidden spot without the crowds, skip the northern ridge and head for the western face instead. There's a little unmarked trail that kicks off just past the old water reservoir on 둔지산로, it's short but scrambles up through some gnarly boulders with a killer view of the city at sunset. No ropes, just good shoes and a bit of patience for the loose rocks. And fwiw, I'd bring 1.5 liters next time, the western side gets exposed sun and you'll sweat more than u think

The eastern slopes are good, but I'd actually point you to the northern ridge instead. There's a path that starts near the small community garden on 밤고개로, it's not on most maps but locals use it all the time. It's steep for about 15 minutes then levels out into a really pretty forest with these rock formations that catch the afternoon light. No ropes needed, just watch your footing on the loose gravel near the top. And yeah, one liter is plenty for a loop there.

Adventure Park jobs in Seoul 2026: what do they pay?

What does an hourly wage there actually come to after tax, and can anyone realistically cover rent and living costs in Seoul on it? I'd like to hear from people who've done a season rather than the job posting figures.

The 4대보험 hit is real but the bigger issue is hours getting cut in the rainy stretch of 장마, so your monthly total swings a lot. I'd ask current staff about the actual shift schedule before signing, not the posted rate.

Image birga local ·

장마 shifts get cut first, ask about 우천 대체 근무

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image sybilla local ·

for real, and the rainy day shifts they swap you into are usually shorter, so ask how many actual hours a week you'd get

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image babette local ·

also worth knowing that shift cuts depend on which attraction you're assigned to. indoor rides keep running through the wet weeks so those crews stay close to full hours while outdoor ones get sent home early. ask which ride you'd be on before you sign anything.

Rain cuts hit hardest in July, so ask if 주휴수당 still applies on weeks you drop under 15 hours.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down
Image petra local ·

One thing worth asking is whether 주휴수당 gets prorated or clawed back at settlement, since some seasonal contracts quietly build that into the base rate.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Image petra local ·

Check the contract's 근로계약서 hours, that's the real tell.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image jana local ·

agreed, ask for the actual shift roster in writing

Adventure Park runs on short seasonal contracts, so expect around minimum wage (10,320 won in 2025, maybe 10,500 in 2026) minus 4대보험, which drops your take-home more than people think. On that, a deposit-heavy Seoul rent is a stretch unless you share a place or live out near the park.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down
Image sybilla local ·

yeah but short contracts mean no severance either
