But, my checked bag never showed up. It was a complete mess trying to figure out what happened with the airline and the hotel staff. They were helpful, but getting my replacement toiletries was a nightmare. Seriously, what's the best way to deal with lost luggage when you're already stressed about a business trip? I'm thinking some sort of emergency kit next time, you know, with essentials? This whole thing really threw a wrench in my schedule. It should of been smooth sailing!

tbh the real hack is keeping a digital copy of everything in your bag. i snap photos of my suitcase contents before every trip now, including the tags and serial numbers if its a nice piece. makes filing the claim way less painful when you can just email them a list instead of trying to remember what you packed at 2am jetlagged

also worth knowing korean airlines have a 24 hour compensation window for business class passengers but economy gets shafted. if you flew economy next time ask for the "immediate expense" form at the lost luggage desk - they'll reimburse up to 200 bucks for essentials if you keep the receipts. just hit up the Lotte Department store in Myeongdong for actual decent clothes instead of the hotel's overpriced stuff

the hotel concierge at kukdo can actually hook u up with a "lost luggage kit" if u ask. they have deals with local shops nearby in euljiro so u get stuff delivered to the lobby in like an hour. i've seen guests use it before, beats wandering around after a flight

also for next time, grab a sim card at the airport with a korean number. makes calling the airline or hotel way less painful since they actually pick up local lines faster than international ones. the olleh booths at incheon arrival hall are fine, just get the 7-day prepaid one

honestly, if you're staying near Euljiro again, just pop into any Daiso or Olive Young near the hotel for toiletries. there's one right by exit 6 of Euljiro 4-ga station, like a 3 minute walk from Kukdo. way cheaper than the hotel markup and you get actual Korean brand stuff that's decent

next time keep a spare set of contacts or glasses in your carry-on too. the glasses shops in Myeongdong are fine but you don't want to be hunting for an optometrist during a business trip at 10pm

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
