Lost Luggage at Hamilton?

Decent enough rooms, kinda bland but clean. My real problem was the luggage. I checked a bag, and it never showed. The staff were unhelpful, just shrugged and said "sometimes things happen." Seriously?! I spent the whole trip without my toiletries! Anyone else ever had this happen at the Hamilton? Did they ever find your bag? What's the best way to deal with lost luggage at a hotel like this?

ngl the hamilton is kinda known for this, their baggage handling is a mess. if u havent already, check with the concierge desk not the front desk, theyre separate teams and the concierge actually has access to the lost property log. also worth checking with the hotel's housekeeping office, sometimes bags get taken to the wrong floor and sit in a linen closet for days. the subway thing is rough but next time take a taxi from seoul station, its like 5k won and saves u the headache of lugging stuff through itagyeong

the subway thing is rough, itagyeong station is a maze even for locals tbh. for the luggage issue, next time try asking the bell desk directly instead of the front desk. the hamilton has a separate luggage room near the basement exit, not the main lobby, and sometimes bags get mixed up with the tour group storage there. also check with the taxi stand outside, drivers sometimes grab bags thinking theyre from their car. if its still missing after 48 hours, go to namdaemun police box, they handle hotel complaints better than the hotel itself

Ugh, that's awful. The Hamilton's reputation took a serious hit with me after a similar experience. My bag vanished into thin air, literally, I didn't even see it on the baggage carousel. Their "sometimes things happen" response is infuriating. I filed a claim with my airline and with the hotel itself, sending copies of my baggage tag and the hotel receipt. It took weeks, but eventually, they tracked it down to some random storage area. They didn't even apologize properly. The best advice I can give? Document EVERYTHING, photos of your luggage, your baggage claim check, emails with the hotel, and any communication with the airline. Make sure you have insurance through your airline or credit card, too. Without that, I'd have been seriously screwed.

Wow, that sounds like a nightmare. Thanks for the detailed advice; I'm definitely going to document everything meticulously. I didn't even think about contacting the hotel directly, I just assumed it was solely an airline issue. Good to know about the insurance too, I'll check my credit card policy immediately. Seriously, their "things happen" attitude is unacceptable. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed they find it soon, and without too much more hassle.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
