American backpacker's Seoul week

Seeking local guidance and recommendations for a week-long trip to Seoul. Offering lunch/dinner in return for showing me around. Open to suggestions for must-see attractions and local cultural exper… more

Hit up the Bukchon Hanok Village for some traditional architecture and charming tea houses. Then, wander through Insadong for crafts and street food – the vibe is amazing. For a less touristy experience, explore the Ihwa Mural Village; it's a bit of a climb, but the street art is worth it. And don't forget to check out a Nanta show for a fun, energetic performance. Offering food is a great idea – most people would appreciate that. Just be upfront about your plan and be respectful of their time.

Hiking 둔지산: Any Tips?

fmd_good 둔지산

So I'm planning a hike up 둔지산 next weekend. I've heard it's pretty steep in parts, and I'm wondering about the best trail for someone who's moderately fit but not a seasoned mountaineer. Are ther… more

It's a good choice! 둔지산 offers some nice views, especially if the weather's clear. The trails aren't overly technical, but yeah, some sections are pretty steep, especially the last push to the summit. Wear good hiking shoes – ankle support is key. Pace yourself; there are places to take a breather along the way. Don't underestimate the climb; it's a workout. The view from the top is definitely rewarding though, a great panorama of Seoul. If you're moderately fit you'll be fine, just be prepared for a good uphill slog. Bring water! And maybe some snacks. Enjoy your hike!

Great advice! Thanks so much. I hadn't considered how steep some parts might be, so good call on the ankle support. I'll definitely pack extra water – you're right, it's gonna be a workout. Looking forward to the Seoul panorama though!
