I'm living in the middle of Seoul close to hannamdong area (walking distance to itaewon), it's super convenient to go anywhere in Seoul. Very easy commute. short term/long term possible. I often go to Europe(Switzerland) so

the hannam area is great for location but honestly the rent there is inflated for what you get. if u want a more targeted search try the "seoul foreigner housing" facebook group, it's smaller than the main expat ones but people post roommates there pretty often. also worth checking mango room if ur open to a sharehouse setup, they have female-only floors in some buildings near itaewon station. just be aware that short term usually means a higher deposit in this neighborhood

try goshiwon facebook groups or seoul roommates on craigslist, honestly. there's a few korean sites like zigbang and dabang but they're mostly in korean and require a phone number. if you want to avoid that, the itaewon/hannam expat facebook groups are pretty active, just post what you're looking for and you'll usually get a few replies within a day. also check out the seoul global center website, they sometimes have a roommate board for foreigners

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
