affordable k- streetfashion /2yk for men in Seoul?

I was in Hongdae but it seems like there's alot more fashion for women than men. It was also relatively expensive. Thanful for every tips/recommendations! tbh for men's streetwear on a budget you gotta skip the main hongdae streets and hit the side alleys near sangsu station instead. there's a spot called market seoul that does their own blanks for like 15k and it's all oversized cropped tees and wide pants, very current vibe. also check out the men's section at aland in hongdae proper - they carry k-local brands at retail prices unlike the boutiques that mark up 2x. if u don't mind digging, the dongdaemun history & culture park station underground mall has a few stalls with unbranded but trendy stuff for under 20k, just bring cash

honestly if you've got some patience, check out the men's section at lotte mart's fashion floor near seoul station. yeah it sounds random but they stock a bunch of domestic labels like covernat and thisisneverthat for way less than the hongdae stores. tops are usually 20-30k and you can try stuff on without the shopkeeper hovering over you. also if you're near euljiro, there's a few no-name shops tucked in the alleys that sell blank tees and cargos for like 10k - not branded but the fabric holds up fine for streetwear layering

Head to the underground shopping malls at Express Bus Terminal station. The Gangnam side has a whole section of men's streetwear stalls where most tops run 15,000 to 30,000 won and they actually have size variety. It's not curated like Hongdae but you can dig through racks and find decent graphic tees and oversized hoodies that match the K-street vibe. If you're okay with secondhand, the Dongmyo flea market area on weekends has tons of vintage sportswear and bomber jackets for under 10,000 won, just bring cash and be ready to haggle.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
