So I know is common in Seoul for people to bump into each other but today something odd happened:

I was in the subway (not crowded) and there was an empty seat in front of me that an older lady wanted to sit on. When I move my body I feel an elbow brushing my butt check. As I turn around I see an older man (maybe in his early 60s) walking slowly with his hands in his pockets to the door. I though "oh maybe the guy didn't notice me but is weird that if it's not crowded and not in a rush he wouldn't move his arms out of my butt" As he is standing on the door, I noticed 2 stops later he doesn't get off, and then goes back to sitting and gets off 2 stops after that, the same time As me. As I walk away I noticed looking at me so I walked fast.

I was already looking at him on the subway so maybe that's why he looked at me? Or I don't know...

This is my last day here and I feel like if he was being a creep, it puts a big stain on my trip. I'm also feeling guilty for not sitting, but I always prefer to leave the sits to older people. What do you guys think? Is all in my head or there was some creepy intentions going on?

Honestly, it sounds like it could go either way, but your gut was telling you something was off for a reason. On Seoul's subways, especially line 2 or line 4 during off-peak hours, you'll see people doze off or shuffle around without much spatial awareness, but the part where he didn't get off for two stops and then followed your exit is the red flag. It's not unusual for older ajusshi to stand near the doors even if they're not getting off soon, but the combination of the elbow and the staring would make anyone uncomfortable. Don't let it ruin your last day, Seoul is full of good people too, and you handled it well by walking away quickly.

ngl the part where he didn't get off but then followed your exit is the biggest tell. people who accidentally bump someone usually get off at their actual stop, not hang around for two extra stops just to leave at the same time as you

if it helps, this kind of thing happens way more often on line 1 or line 4 during off-peak hours when cars are emptier. creepy ajusshis tend to target quieter cars specifically because there's less chance of someone stepping in

don't let it stain your trip though. seoul's subway system moves millions of people daily without issue, you just got unlucky with one weirdo on your last day. your instincts were right and you handled it fine by walking away fast

I've lived here long enough to know that the subway elbow thing happens both ways, but the part that stands out is him not getting off and then following your exit. That's the detail that shifts it from clumsy to intentional. The staring back at you after you noticed him is also a common tactic, they want to see if you're scared or if you'll confront them. Don't let this one guy spoil your memory of Seoul, most people here are just trying to get home without bothering anyone. If you're ever in that situation again, moving to a different car or standing near the security call button is totally reasonable.

Adventure Park jobs in Seoul 2026: what do they pay?

What does an hourly wage there actually come to after tax, and can anyone realistically cover rent and living costs in Seoul on it? I'd like to hear from people who've done a season rather than the job posting figures.

The 4대보험 hit is real but the bigger issue is hours getting cut in the rainy stretch of 장마, so your monthly total swings a lot. I'd ask current staff about the actual shift schedule before signing, not the posted rate.

Image birga local ·

장마 shifts get cut first, ask about 우천 대체 근무

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image sybilla local ·

for real, and the rainy day shifts they swap you into are usually shorter, so ask how many actual hours a week you'd get

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image babette local ·

also worth knowing that shift cuts depend on which attraction you're assigned to. indoor rides keep running through the wet weeks so those crews stay close to full hours while outdoor ones get sent home early. ask which ride you'd be on before you sign anything.

Rain cuts hit hardest in July, so ask if 주휴수당 still applies on weeks you drop under 15 hours.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down
Image petra local ·

One thing worth asking is whether 주휴수당 gets prorated or clawed back at settlement, since some seasonal contracts quietly build that into the base rate.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Image petra local ·

Check the contract's 근로계약서 hours, that's the real tell.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image jana local ·

agreed, ask for the actual shift roster in writing

Adventure Park runs on short seasonal contracts, so expect around minimum wage (10,320 won in 2025, maybe 10,500 in 2026) minus 4대보험, which drops your take-home more than people think. On that, a deposit-heavy Seoul rent is a stretch unless you share a place or live out near the park.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down
Image sybilla local ·

yeah but short contracts mean no severance either
