E-SIM for seou?

Hi, do you have any recommendations for a e-sim plan for usage in Seoul? Hi, do you have any recommendations for a e-sim plan for usage in Seoul?

fwiw the KT e-sim is solid but don't sleep on the 7-Eleven convenience store sims, they run on SKT and you can grab one at any branch near Hongdae or Myeongdong for like 15,000 won for 5GB. you just scan the QR on the box and you're live in ten minutes, no Klook booking needed.

one thing people forget is battery drain, Seoul's network is so fast that your phone burns through charge way quicker than back home. grab a power bank at Daiso for like 10,000 won, you'll thank me after a day of KakaoMap and Papago.

also if you're here during cherry blossom season or Chuseok, the airport kiosks get slammed, so pre-booking online is the move. but if you land late at night and everything's closed, the e-sim from Chingu is fine for a day, just switch to KT or SKT once you're settled.

The KT or SKT e-sim is the safe pick, but if you want to save a bit, check the LG U+ tourist plan on Klook. It's usually a few thousand won cheaper than the others and the coverage is just as good in the subway, which is where you'll actually spend most of your time. One thing people overlook: activate the e-sim the night before you land, the airport wifi can be spotty and you don't want to be fiddling with a QR code while jet-lagged.

Also, keep in mind that many cafes and restaurants only have wifi for customers, so a data-only plan means you'll be stuck with your own connection if you're just passing through. For 2FA and banking apps, a Korean number isn't required for most things, but if you're planning to use Coupang or local delivery apps, you'll hit a wall without a proper SIM. The e-sim is fine for maps and messaging, just don't expect it to handle everything.

honestly just grab a KT or SKT tourist e-sim, they cover everything and the speeds are insane. if you're staying over a week, check the 30-day plans on Naver or Klook, they're usually half the price of the airport kiosks. i'd skip the cheap MVNOs like Chingu Mobile, they throttle hard during peak hours in Myeongdong or Hongdae.

tbh wifi is everywhere here, so even a 5GB plan is plenty unless you're streaming or doing video calls all day. make sure your phone's unlocked before you land, and set the APN manually if the QR code fails, it happens more than you'd think. most convenience stores like GS25 also sell physical SIMs if you change your mind, but e-sim is way easier for two-factor stuff.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
