Cairo dating scene 2026, what's it like for a newcomer

fmd_goodAl Nasr Rd · #cafes #cairo
moving to cairo soon & honestly curious how dating works there, like do people meet through friends or apps or cafes on al nasr rd? and whats the norm for first dates, is it more group hangouts or one… moving to cairo soon & honestly curious how dating works there, like do people meet through friends or apps or cafes on al nasr rd? and whats the norm for first dates, is it more group hangouts or one on one

tbh apps are pretty common now but friend setups still rule. first meets tend to be coffee or a walk, one on one mostly, group stuff comes later once you know ppl. teh cafes on Al Nasr are more for hanging with friends than dates imo

zamalek or maadi for a first meet, quieter

Maadi's corniche stretch, late afternoon.

Agree, downtown feels loud for a first meet

yeah apps work but honestly word of mouth through mutual friends is still how most people actually meet

Also, do foreign cards generally work at ATMs around the Citadel area, or am I better off withdrawing before I head over?

Bring small notes, change is scarce

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

50 pound notes work best for the ticket window

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

True, and the kiosk near the ticket window often can't break a 200, so ask for 20s and 50s at the bank.

Cash is safer for the Citadel ticket in my experience. Foreign cards at those ATMs can be hit or miss, so withdraw beforehand.

yeah teh ticket window was card only when i went
