Best doctor in Cairo for a checkup near the Citadel?

Are there clinics around the Citadel or downtown that take international insurance, and roughly what does a consultation cost if I pay cash?

Downtown clinics near Abdin, cash around 400 to 600 EGP.

For skin specifically, the dermatology clinic at Kasr El Aini hospital is a short ride south and takes international insurance.

Second this, go early morning to skip the queue.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Early helps but the real crunch is Sunday and Monday mornings, so aim for a Tuesday if you can. Also worth knowing the private clinics around Bab El Louk tend to open at 10, not 8, so don't show up too early.

Book ahead, walk-ins wait hours.

new building wing, bring ur passport copy

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

el monira area too, quieter waiting rooms

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

cash rate crept up to 700 at some spots

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Roughly right, though Zamalek charges more.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

good to know, i found one off sharia emad el din that quoted 550 but wanted it in pounds sterling equivalent which felt odd. ask upfront if they take card or only paper, some of the smaller practices get fussy about it

Cairo residency permit 2026: what paperwork do I need?

Which permit applies to a foreign employee, what documents does it require, and what commonly goes wrong at the Mogamma or passport office? Any recent experience would be useful.

Bring passport photos and photocopies of everything, plus your lease near Al Nasr Rd, since address proof stalls more applications than the medical does.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Address proof tripped me up too, though the lease alone wasn't enough. The Mogamma wanted it stamped by the shahr aqari (real estate registry), which took an extra week. Get that stamp before you queue.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Photocopies need to be certified by your embassy too, plain copies got turned away when I asked around.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

The employer usually handles the work permit side, so ask HR which category they're filing under before you worry about paperwork. Mogamma queues are worse early in the week, so try midweek if you can.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

HR files it, but the medical test trips people up.
