450 EGP is about right for foreigners now, and yeah paying in EGP cash usually beats teh card rate at the gate.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

cash desk closes earlier than the gate fyi

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah the card thing is the fee the bank tacks on, so paying paper avoids that extra cut

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Some ATMs near the gate only spit big notes, so break them beforehand.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

true, and the fx markup on card is separate from the citadel's own fee, so paper wins twice.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

the bank's fx cut is the real bite

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

that fx cut stings more than the ticket itself tbh

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Agreed, though worth noting the gate's card reader sometimes goes offline anyway, so paper is the safer bet regardless.

right, and student id knocks it down too

Driving Al Nasr Rd in Cairo 2026, what to expect?

How bad is the traffic there during morning rush, and is there anything about the road layout or exits I should know before I arrive?

morning rush on Al Nasr is rough, i'd budget 45 min for a stretch that takes 15 off peak. the road itself is fine but watch for the u-turn slots, they come up suddenly and people cut across lanes to hit them. also ngl the microbus drivers stop anywhere, so keep a gap. gas up before you head out, stations on that road are sparse.

Flyover exit near City Stars, easy to miss.

yeah that whole stretch around Abbas El Akkad is confusing if you don't know it. the turnoffs come up fast and signage is mostly Arabic, so learn your lane early. honestly google maps saved me more than once there.
