Reasonably priced pet titer test in Seoul?

Question

Hello! I am trying to find a place to get a titer test for my kitty before traveling abroad. The official APQA website says the titer test costs around 110,000 at the government agency. My friend had to pay 440,000 for a titer test at a vet in Itaewon, which is wayy more expensive. Seems like this is the case for a lot of places nearby. Does anyone know where I can find a place to get the titer test for travel at a reasonable price, as listed by the APQA? They don't indicate where the government agency is or how to organize it, so I am just very confused. If anyone has any experiences traveling to Canada with their cat from Korea, and back, please let me know!

The government rate is real but getting it directly from the National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service in Anyang can be a pain with their limited hours and appointment system. I'd try calling a few clinics in less central areas like Jongno or near Seoul National University, they often charge closer to 150,000-200,000 won instead of the 400,000+ you saw in Itaewon. For Canada specifically, make sure your vet fills out the Canadian health certificate form properly, I've seen people get turned away at the airport because the microchip number was written in the wrong spot.

I've heard the government rate is for the National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service itself, not a private clinic. You'd have to go to their facility in Anyang or one of their regional offices, but it's a bit of a hassle with appointments and waiting times. I'd call around to some smaller vets outside of Itaewon or Hongdae, they might do it closer to that price without the markup.

honestly your best bet is the Anyang facility if you can deal with the scheduling. its called the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA) and they have a lab out there that does it for the quoted 110,000 won. you need to book an appointment online first and bring your cat's rabies vaccination records plus microchip info. the process takes about 2-3 weeks for results so plan ahead.

for Canada specifically make sure you get the rabies titer done at least 30 days after the last vaccine shot. i know someone who went to a vet in Mapo-gu near Hongdae station and paid 180,000 for the whole thing including the blood draw and paperwork. theyre called Mapo Animal Hospital and were pretty straightforward about the pricing when asked.
