USAG Yongsan?

Question

I'm curious about the current state of USAG Yongsan. I was stationed there years ago before most things relocated to Camp Humphreys. I know the Dragon Hill Lodge is still there, but it is essentially a ghost town, or are there still people working there?

yeah it's wild how quiet it got. I walked through there a few months ago to grab lunch at the lodge and the whole area around the old gym and the theater is just dead silent. the korean workers at the gas station by the gate said they still get a handful of people daily but it's mostly contractors checking on stuff

if you're feeling nostalgic the best bet is to just drive through gate 1 and cruise around for 15 mins. the empty parade field is kinda surreal now with all the weeds creeping in at the edges. not much else to do there unless you wanna grab a sad beer at the dragon hill bar

honestly it's pretty eerie walking around there now. the main post area is mostly empty except for a few korean offices and some maintenance crews keeping things from falling apart. if you go near the old commissary or PX buildings you'll see them boarded up but the parking lots are still maintained weirdly enough

the only real activity i've noticed is near the gate itself and around the dragon hill side where they still have some events sometimes. but compared to what it was like 10 years ago it's basically a skeleton crew operation. you can still walk around if you have base access but it's more of a nostalgia trip than anything else

dragon hill lodge is still open but yeah most stuff is shut down. some korean workers still around but it feels dead compared to before. not much reason to go unless you really miss the old days
