**🍴 Where to Start** Begin your culinary journey at Kigali's bustling Kimironko Market, where you can sample fresh produce and local snacks. For a sit-down meal, head to Heaven Restaurant & Boutique Hotel on KG 7 Ave, known for its farm-to-table Rwandan dishes. Prices range from 8,000 to 15,000 RWF for mains. **🥘 Must-Try Local Dishes** Don't miss brochettes (grilled meat skewers) served with chips or plantains at Chez Lando on KN 5 Rd. Another staple is isombe (cassava leaves with spinach) and ugali (maize porridge), available at local eateries like Amahoro Restaurant in Nyamirambo. Expect to pay around 3,000 to 6,000 RWF per dish. **🌮 Street Food Highlights** For authentic street food, visit the Nyamirambo neighborhood after dark. Look for vendors selling sambaza (fried small fish) and mandazi (fried dough) near the main mosque. A plate of sambaza costs about 1,000 RWF, while mandazi are 200 RWF each. **🍝 International Cuisine** If you crave international flavors, try the Italian dishes at La Galette on KN 3 Ave, where pizzas start at 10,000 RWF. For Ethiopian food, visit Habesha Restaurant on KG 17 Ave, offering injera and stews for around 8,000 RWF. Both are popular with expats and locals. **☕ Coffee and Dessert** Rwanda is famous for its coffee, so stop by Question Coffee Cafe on KG 7 Ave for a single-origin brew (2,500 RWF). For dessert, head to Inzora Rooftop Cafe in Kacyiru for cakes and pastries (3,000-5,000 RWF) with a view of the city. **🌃 Best Evening Spots** For a lively dinner scene, go to Kigali's Kiyovu neighborhood, where restaurants like Pili Pili on KN 78 St serve grilled fish and cocktails (mains 12,000-18,000 RWF). Another option is The Hut on KG 9 Ave, offering a relaxed atmosphere with live music and Rwandan buffet dinners for 10,000 RWF. **💰 Budget Tips** To save money, eat at local canteens called 'hotels' where a full meal of rice, beans, and sauce costs 1,500-2,500 RWF. Avoid tourist-heavy areas for street food; instead, follow locals to stalls in Remera or Gisozi. Carry cash as many small vendors don't accept cards. **🚗 Getting Around for Food** Use moto-taxis (motorcycle taxis) for short trips between food spots, costing 500-1,500 RWF per ride. For a full food tour, consider hiring a driver for the day (around 30,000 RWF). Many restaurants are concentrated in Kacyiru, Kimihurura, and Nyamirambo, so plan your route accordingly.
