**🗺️ Planning Your Trip** Xingtai is a historic city in southern Hebei, easily reached by high-speed train from Beijing (about 2 hours) or Shijiazhuang (30 minutes). The city is compact, with most attractions in the central Qiaodong and Qiaoxi districts, so three days is enough to see the highlights without rushing. This itinerary groups sights by neighborhood to minimize transit, with realistic travel times by taxi or bus. Plan for moderate walking and bring comfortable shoes. **🏛️ Day 1 Morning: Qiaodong History** Start at Xingtai Museum (No. 1 Zhongxing West Street, open 9:00-17:00, closed Mondays, free entry) to get oriented with the city's 3,500-year history. From there, walk 10 minutes to the Tang Dynasty Kaiyuan Temple (No. 88 Xingtai Road, open 8:30-17:30, entry 20 yuan), one of the best-preserved ancient temples in southern Hebei. Allow about 2 hours for both sites. **🍜 Day 1 Afternoon: Local Flavors** For lunch, head to Laodong Street (10 minutes by taxi from Kaiyuan Temple, about 10 yuan) and try Xingtai's famous braised pork with dried vegetables at any local eatery; expect to pay 30-50 yuan per person. Afterward, visit the Xingtai Handicraft Market (No. 15 Xinhua North Road, open 10:00-18:00) to see traditional clay figurines and paper cuttings. In the late afternoon, stroll through Dahuomen Park (free entry, open 24 hours) to watch locals practice tai chi. **🌃 Day 1 Evening: Night Market** As evening falls, take a 15-minute taxi ride (about 15 yuan) to the Zhongxing Street Night Market, which comes alive around 18:30. Sample grilled skewers, fried noodles, and local craft beer; a full meal costs around 40 yuan. The market runs until midnight, and taxis are readily available nearby. **⛰️ Day 2 Morning: Mountain Temple** Take bus 7 from downtown to Tiantishan Grottoes (departs every 20 minutes, 40-minute ride, fare 2 yuan). The grottoes, carved into a cliff face, date back to the Northern Dynasties and house over 1,000 Buddha statues. Entry is 50 yuan, open 8:00-17:00; arrive early to avoid crowds and bring water, as the site involves climbing stairs. **🏞️ Day 2 Afternoon: Lakeside Relax** After returning to the city (bus 7 back, 40 minutes), have lunch near Qili River Park at one of the riverside restaurants; try the steamed fish with ginger, about 60 yuan. Then rent a bike (10 yuan per hour) and cycle along the Qili River Greenway, a 10-kilometer path with views of the wetlands. The park is free and open all day. **🏯 Day 3 Morning: Ancient Town** Take a 30-minute taxi (about 40 yuan) to Xingtai's ancient town of Nangong, which preserves Ming and Qing architecture. Wander the cobblestone streets, visit the Nangong Stele Forest (entry 30 yuan, open 8:30-17:30), and see the old city gate. Allow 3 hours including travel. **🛍️ Day 3 Afternoon: Shopping and Departure** Back in Xingtai by 14:00, spend the afternoon at Beiguo Mall (No. 1 Zhongxing East Street, open 10:00-22:00) for souvenirs like Xingtai chestnuts and handmade cloth shoes. The high-speed train station is a 20-minute taxi ride (about 20 yuan) from the mall, so leave at least 1.5 hours before your departure. If time allows, grab a quick bowl of beef noodles at the station food court for 25 yuan.
