It was scorching hot, but the shade offered by ancient trees was a blessing. I stumbled across this tiny, almost hidden, temple, completely unremarkable from the street, but inside? It felt ancient, powerful...almost spiritual. Saw a few locals leaving offerings. The question is: Are there any maps or guides highlighting these lesser-known temples and shrines tucked away in the residential areas near Si Ayutthaya Rd? I'd love to explore more next time I'm in @Bangkok.

You might have better luck looking for a map of the "old city" rather than specific temple guides. Wat Ratchaburana and Wat Phra Ram are the big ones everyone goes to, but the sois between them and the river have these little spirit houses that aren't even on Google Maps. I found one by accident near the Chao Sam Phraya Museum, just a small shrine under a banyan tree with faded gold leaf and fresh marigolds. If you ask at the Ayutthaya Tourist Center on Srisanphet Road, they sometimes have a hand-drawn map from a retired guide that marks about a dozen of these spots, but you have to specifically ask for the "local wats map" or they'll just hand you the standard one.

nah theres no map that captures this stuff, the whole point is theyre not on any grid. but if u want a solid bet, walk down si ayutthaya towards the river and cut into soi wat sommanat, theres a cluster of tiny shrines behind an old wooden house that sells the best khao tom in the area. locals call it the "three sisters" spot but no sign exists. bring a pocket fan and go around 5pm when the monks do their evening rounds, u might catch the offering procession.

There's no map for this stuff, but grab a copy of "Wat Panan Choeng" or just walk west from the intersection with Samsen Road. The area around Wat Mahathat has a few small shrines tucked behind houses that don't show up on tourist maps. I'd recommend going early, around 7am, before the heat kicks in and when locals are actually doing their morning offerings.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
