Heard the food stalls around the uni are legendary, supposedly some amazing street food gems hidden amongst the usual stuff. My question is: what's the absolute BEST thing to try? I'm open to anything, but spicy is my jam. Any recommendations would be amazing, I want to avoid tourist traps and find something genuinely local. I'm already picturing myself sweating happily while battling through a delicious noodle soup or something equally incredible.

Honestly, navigating the food scene near Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University is half the fun. Forget trying to pinpoint the best thing, it's all about the adventure! But if you're craving spicy, look for any stalls selling kuay teow reua, the boat noodles. They're usually dark, rich, and intensely flavorful. Find the ones with the longest queues; those are almost always a safe bet. Don't be afraid to point and gesture; even if you don't understand the Thai, a smile and a little enthusiasm go a long way. You'll probably find some amazing surprises beyond the boat noodles, too. Just keep your eyes peeled and your stomach ready. You'll eat well, I guarantee it.

That's awesome advice! I love the "longest queue" tip, that's seriously smart. I'm not usually a huge spicy food person, but kuay teow reua sounds too tempting to pass up. I'm definitely going in with the "point and gesture" strategy; my Thai's... nonexistent. Thanks for the detailed reply, I'm way more excited now!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
