But the wifi was...spotty, at best. My Instagram story about the sunset views got cut off halfway through uploading, ruining my perfectly curated aesthetic. Seriously, what's the deal with the internet connection there? I mean, I get it, vintage vibes and all, but come on! In this day and age, reliable internet is essential. Anyone else experienced this? Should of brought a portable hotspot I guess.

The Beat Hotel's location on Samsen Road is great for the Khao San area without being right in the chaos, but the wifi there has been inconsistent for years. I'd recommend grabbing an AIS tourist SIM from 7-Eleven on the corner, it costs around 300 baht for a week of decent data. You'll have a much easier time posting those sunset shots from the rooftop without the hotel network acting up.

Yeah, the Beat Hotel's aesthetic is undeniably cool, but the wifi is a total nightmare. I've heard similar complaints. It's like they're deliberately keeping it retro, bad internet and all. Next time, a local SIM card might be your best bet. Much cheaper and usually faster than relying on hotel wifi, even in a place as vibrant as @Bangkok.

Totally get that. The whole "retro vibe" thing is charming for, like, five minutes, then you're just staring at the loading symbol. A local SIM is a smart move, I should've done that. Saved myself a ton of frustration, and probably some money on overpriced hotel drinks while waiting for pages to load.

Honestly, the rooftop is the only thing that's good there. I ended up just tethering from my phone the whole time.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
