Bangkok's Best Ramen?

I couldn't even finish it. My question is: do they do smaller portions or a "taster" menu for those of us with smaller appetites or are we doomed to ramen-induced comas?

ngl the tsukemen tip is solid but what i'd actually do is get the yayoi bowl to go. they pack the broth separate from the noodles so you can just add as much as u want and save the rest for breakfast. the branch near ekkamai gate does this no questions asked, just tell them "ao glap ban" and they'll wrap it up proper. you get two meals out of it for like 160 baht

I've been going to Yayoi for years and honestly the tsukemen suggestion is a solid workaround. But if you really want the full broth experience without the coma, go during off-peak hours around 2pm and ask for a "small bowl" directly. The older lady who works the lunch shift at the Thong Lo branch will sometimes do it for regulars, just say "pom ao baht neung" and point to the regular bowl. Costs about 120 baht instead of 180.

If you want the Yayoi broth without the full commitment, you could order the bowl to share and ask for an extra empty bowl and a small side of rice. They don't blink at that request, and the rice soaks up the leftover broth beautifully. It's a common move among locals near Sukhumvit 26 who want the flavor but not the food coma. Just be prepared for your friend to eye your half of the bowl.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
